Thank you for looking at the settings so quickly. Unfortunately, I am not sure what you are advising, if I make the image path the one where the main images are and set Use Thumbnails to YES, I get the carousel effect but no images are shown. If I set the Use Thumbnails to NO, I get the carousel effect with large images.

Set "Use thumbnails" parameter to "Yes" and check that <joomla_directory>/cache/ folder has writable permissions.

I have made some changes along the lines you suggested, I can now see the link, but no images in the carousel, LINK

The problem occurs because the module can't save thumbnails to <joomla_directory>/cache folder. Check that this folder has writable permissions and clean Joomla! cache.

I have checked and the directory is set to writeable, I have set the 'Use Thumbnails' to YES

Still cannot see the images in the carousel, the only time I can is if I set the image path to a sub-folder that has thumbnail sized images. Is it anything to do with the size of the original images, which are 800 px wide.

Try to temporary set "0777" permissions for <joomla_directory>/cache folder and temporary disable "FTP Layer" if it is enabled in Joomla! settings.
