[SOLVED] Accented characters in ARI Data Tables 13 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi there,

First of all, I want to thank you for a terrific product. I was able to create a database and insert a table onto my Joomla website with surprising ease. I was also very pleasantly surprised to see it accomodated my variable width template straight away as well! ^_^

I am having ONE problem, however ...

Many of the characters in my data are accented (for example: и) - but these do not show up correctly. Do you have any immediate ideas as to how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance.

(LEFT: ARI Data Tables output / RIGHT: Correct text as it appears in the database)

Hello,

If data is shown from a CSV file and saved in non-UTF8 encoding, set appropriate encoding in "CSV -> File encoding" parameter or save CSV file in UTF-8 encoding.

Hi there - thanks for the quick response.

Sadly, it's not quite as simple as that. I'm not pulling the data from CSV files - I'm using a separate MySQL database which contains all my data. The database stores everything in utf8-unicode-ci, so I think that should be good ... but I don't know what's happening between there and the output to the site ...

Set "SQL -> External Database -> Charset name" parameter to UTF8 value.

Brilliant. That did the trick - thanks so much.

(I already tried 'utf8-unicode-ci', and didn't think to try UTF8! *doh!*)
