Hello. I have recently purchased ARI DataTables but i'm a little unsure of how to use it.

I have set up the database parameters but always get an error.

The database is external (on another server within our 10 network) I can connect from the joomla server to the database server there are no firewall or other restrictions.

Some questions.

Does the database have to reside on the same server?
Do I connect with hostname or IP address? (I've tried both)
What is the difference between MSSQL and MSSQL Pro?

Also do I have to have the column settings populated for the module to work? - At present they are blank.

If you want to connect to MS SQL database appropriate PHP extension should be installed. If you use PHP 5.3+, connect to MS SQL database via ODBC. For this PHP ODBC extension should be installed on your server and ODBC source should be configured properly.
