Easy Way to Force "No Data Available" 10 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

This may be a stupid question, but I have a search page using ARI DataTables and RSForm Pro as the search form. See the link below,

www.sim-x.net/index.php/simsearch/simple-search

Notice that when the article first loads the ARIDataTables module returns all the data in the database because the query returns all records. I do not want that to return on first launch, I want it to return "No Data Available" until some search entries are entered in the form. Is there an easy way to force "No Data Available"?

Thanks.

Ken

Hello,

You can create one article with search form and when a user enters search parameters loads another article with "ARI Data Tables" module.

Ok, thanks. I was hoping for even easier than that because then I am managing multiple articles for the same tasks.

I attempted to use a second article, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get the 2nd article to load from the first. I tried putting the alias to the 2nd article in the return URL for the form but that did not work. I then thought that since the return URL seems to reference a menu item rather than an article directly that maybe I need to have a menu item for the 2nd article. Because I don't want there to be a visible menu item for the 2nd article I tried creating a menu item for the 2nd article but not publishing it to the menu. That did not work.

Can you point me to anything that shows how this is done under Joomla? I know and am sorry that this is outside the scope of your problem or support you need to provide. Thanks.

Link to an article looks like:

index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=ARTICLE_ID

Where ARTICLE_ID is ID of the article which want to show. For example if you want to load article with ID = 14, use the following link:

index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=14

Excellent, thank you very much. I appreciate the assistance and know this is beyond what would be considered normal support for your product. It worked great as you suggested.
