TOPIC: connection to the database

connection to the database 7 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
We ran a test of the Data Table module on a local server and it worked perfectly. we just gave it the Private IP Address of our local server.

Now, we want to use the module on our live site. I created a new database on the live site and populated it with all the songs, so there are now TWO databases on the site, one for Joomla and the other for the songs.

I have the User name and password for the database on the HostUpon server. I have the password and the name of the database and table.

I tried localhost, no luck I tried the site name. no luck. I tried www.xxxxxx.com, no luck. What am I missing here?

Hello,

If you want to connect to a MySQL database which is located on your server (where Joomla! is installed), but not to Joomla! database, select "External database" option in "Choose source type -> SQL -> Load data from" drop-down, set "DB Type" to "MySQL (mysqli)" value, populate "Host" parameter with localhost value and enter database name, user and password in "DB name", "User" and "Password" parameters. If something doesn't work, try to set "Debug mode" parameter to "Yes".

I tried putting 'localhost' but it wouldn't accept it. Eventually, I put in the IP Address of the HostUpon server.

It seemed to work fine for a while, but suddenly all the links in the database have the correct value, but when you click on the link they all go to Volume 1 on Demo and Volume 2 on trax-n-tabs.

This is the link :
networkingtechnology.org/pan-an/index.php/song-list

The link shows correctly in the browser, but they all go to Volume 1

networkingtechnology.org/pan-an/index.php/songs/383-demo-tracks-volume-15

Not sure what to do about this. Can you help?

It doesn't look like a problem with "ARI Data Tables". It shows links which are stored into a database. It seems this a problem with links, all of them in "Demo" column has 383 prefix (for example 383-demo-tracks-volume-10).

Silly! I populated the entire table by just incrementing to last number.

I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out!

Thanks.

Hi
Is it necessary to create a new table in the database when using the Joomla database for the ari smart content?
If the answer is yes, please give guidance on the details of this table and also Query.
