I am having the same problem, only with docx, as mentioned in this thread:

The exact same display issues,
However, I have tried the following.
Uploading the original file to google drive and viewing through google viewer works perfectly.
Viewing through ari-docs-viewer does not work. Clicking the "arrow-out" link on the top right of the ari-viewing window take the document into google's native viewer where it is also corrupted. Downloading and uploading the same file to google docs the file displays perfectly.
This leads me to believe the problem is in ari docs viewer . . .
