it works but the link type separators are not displayed

"ARI Ext Menu" doesn't show "Separator" menu item. "ARI YUI Menu" can display it.

One note, menu items with "Separator" item type have submenu items or not?

I use separators as titles for menu sections , I shall try to change your code to display them with a css class

If menu item has item type 'Separator' and doesn't have sub items, "ARI Ext Menu" ignores this menu items, "ARI YUI Menu" render it as separator line.
