I just downloaded the Ari Ext Menu and am very impressed with it. Thank You. I'm fairly proficient at PHP and some HTML and CSS, but I am definitely not an expert with CSS manipulation. CSS is a nightmare in my opinion.

I was wondering what the purpose of your menu-item-bg.png background image (1wx32h) is? For example, in the '.ux_menu a {}' specifier, in addition to the background color setting itself you seem to be tiling the image to cover the entire background? Will the color attribute not be overriden by the background image itself?
Is there something magical about the 1x32 sizing of this image to control the container minimum height or something tricky like that?

Background image contains gradient, not one color. If you don't want to use background image and use only background color, you can remove it with help custom CSS rules. Information about menu HTML layout and CSS classed can be found here.
