I think I got around it by adding the above shadow to the bellow submenus. It's an illusion but tt's fine now.

I have another question though:

Is it possible to have the submenus vertically aligned to the main menu always, and not the the item you are hovering?

For example, if I hover over the 3rd item of my main menu, its submenu comes vertically aligned to that 3rd item, and not the hole menu.

I tried changing the margin of the submenu and it works, but the animation still happens with that previous vertical alignment creating un unpleasant snap at the end.

Can you help me?

It requires to change javascript code of menu widget.

The menu uses <joomla_directory>\modules\mod_ariextmenu\mod_ariextmenu\js\menu.min.js file, but it is minified. Original version of the file you can find extension's archive in "src" folder.
