Thank you for your advice.

The expedient that I have used to stop the menu displaying in collapsed form is as follows: -

/www/templates/beez_20/javascript/hide.js
Line 107
el.setStyle(‘display’, ‘none’);
change to el.setStyle(‘visibility’, ‘visible’);

It also resolves the submenu width problem.

This works, but it's future impact on any other modules is problematical.
