Using Slightly different main menus 12 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hello

I have a problem! I need to create another main menu but for our Chinese visitors. We are a school and on our home page we wish to add a button that takes users to a home page that will be in Chinese. The menu will also have certain menu items in Chinese. We are not doing a total website conversion from English to Chinese, only some menu items will be in Chinese, and we don't want these visable on our normally main menu.

I have created one menu "Main Menu" Which is our standard menu and default menu when people visit our site, i created another new menu "Chinese menu" which is similar to our main menu but with some additional Chinese Menu items and articles.

So far i can only get one of the menus to show up at a time, i don't want the menu to be placed in a different location to that of our default menu, only to add some new menu items not visable on the default menu unless you click the link on the home page.

Has anyone any ideas on how to implement this.

Hope i have explained it clearly enough

Thanks

Hello,

In "Menu Assignment" parameters section on module settings page it is possible to specify for what menu items the module should be shown. It is standard parameters section for all modules.

So do i have to have two ARI Ext moduiles, one for our Chinese one for our english and then assign the relevent menu items, or can i use one module and set it to all menu items, then under menu manager, set the respective menu items to the Main menu and Chinese menu?

TBH i hvae tried both methods and both ways when i go from our Main Homepage to the Chinese homepage, the menu vanishes.

Here is a link to my test site: computing4fun.co.uk/WCIT/index.php/en/

to get to the Chinese page just follow the Chinese Character Link. (Won't let me put the Character in...)
I find this all very confusing, been at it all day and my brain is melted so i hope i am being clear.

Thanks for responding

Assign two menu module to the same module possition and show the first module for one menu items and the second module for another menu items.

Hello

It's still not working. I have one module named ARI Ext Main Menu, and another named ARI Ext Chinese Menu.

For the main module i assigned all of our default menu items;

For the Chinese Module i selected only our Chinese menu items (For testing).

My landing page/default page is currently the home page in the Main Module/menu, however, when set like this if i click the link to the Chinese home article, the article loads but the Chinese menu doesn't.

Both my menus are in the breadcrumb position.

I really don't understand why the menu vanishes on the Chinese article, do i need to do anything in the CSS?
