ARIExt menus in different module positions overlap 11 Years, 9 Months ago

I use Beez20 default template with a horizontal menu across the top in position-1 and a vertical menu left side in position-7. The drop down submenu items from the top menu fall behind the left-side menu when expanded, see screenshot. This site is not on a public server so no way to give a url. (I see alot of fixes involve CSS rules; not sure how to apply those, if you could please be specific about how/where in the joomla 2.5 admin console to do that).
