Adding that the empty space disappears when I click one of the menus... so I guess its related to the menu

Probably it is an issue in iPhone browser.

After replacing

UL.ux-menu
{
display: inline-block;
}

with

UL.ux-menu
{
display: inline-table;
}

the problem seems to be corrected.
