I have the same problem.
On my website astarmathsandphysics.com
the main menu is on the left and submenus appear on the right for the menu items 'maths' and 'physics'.
The submenu items are hidden behind items in the main menu. I want them brought in front.
I can't work out where to put the css code above.
Also, I am using images for two items in the main menu- 'live help' and 'skype me'. When I am using ari ext menu these images disappear though the the links to them are still in the source code.
I am using joomla 2.5.11

The desktop theme is default theme beez_20.
I have just spotted too the on the mobile website the submenus does not display at all.

Some of this I may correct myself but whatever help I can get is gratefully received.

I fixed the first problem. The submenu is in front of the page text and does not overlap with the main menu

The links to social bookmarks icons now all work. I made all these links absolute in the code for that module.
I have looked at the source code for the 'live help' menu item.
It should link to
www.astarmathsandphysics.com/chat/icons/offline.gif
There is this option in the menu item to link to an image, but this image link does not appear when I use ari ext menu.

Where images for menu items are defined?

PS: Currently the extension doesn't support images which are defined in Joomla! menu item settings. It requires to use custom CSS rules to add images to menu items.

Administration>menu manager>main menu>Add Menu Item>Link Type Otions>Link Image
One image is at
www.astarmathsandphysics.com/chat/icons/offline.gif
and the other is at
images/call_blue_transparent_34x34.png
