I'll play around with this, what I see so far is that when the slide image is very tall there is an overlap of the navigation arrows but whatever is done needs to affect each slide thus a shorter slide has the arrows above it whereas the taller slide also has the arrows above in the same proportion. In other words, the arrows would move according to the slide vertical position. A way to slice this is to fix all slides to one height at the top rather than the center, not sure how that would work.

The close button just needs some styling for positioning and size.

It is not possible to change position of navigation buttons only via CSS depends on slide height. It requires to create a custom javascript plugin for the lightbox.

Scripting is too much for me, what about fixing a max height, or a fixed top for a slide when in iPhone view? That will always locate the arrows above a slide if the height is fixed. It may also be better, I think.

You can try to play with custom CSS rules, but it seems this requires a custom javascript solution.
