RTL compatibility and caption 5 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,
I am redesigning a website in Elementor (free) and Astra theme (Free) at a test site.
Your lightbox does exactly what I want it to do with the images, thank you.
The only two little things that don't work quite as they should for me are:
1. The caption doesn't show. Instead - the Title does.
That is, in the Media cox there are 4 text fields: Alt, Title, Caption, Description. When an image opens in lightbox - the Title and not the Caption text shows below the image (most probably, for I have all the rest as the same text).
2. The text shown is displayed as LTR - that includes placement, punctuation, English letter abbreviations etc.
You may see an example here, look at the 5th picture from the top for the best example.
test.eichut.net/2014/04/2014-04-21-15-53-52/
The text in Caption says (sorry, but it's in Hebrew, I include so you see the difference from what appears there - text from Title, Description, and Alt):
"זו מסיכה טיפוסית למריחת משחה. הן עשויות פלדת אל-חלד בעובי של מ"מ בודד או מעט יותר. התמונה מאתר Raspberry PI, עמוד Sony, The PI Makers."

Please help to fix this.
Thank you,
Vera

Hello,

1. The plugin shows caption depends on title/caption attribute which is defined on <IMG> element on a page. Your gallery plugin uses title instead of caption so it is shown into the lightbox.

2. Try to add the following CSS rule to "Custom CSS" parameter on "ARI Fancy Lightbox -> Settings -> Style" page:

.fancybox-caption {direction: rtl}

Thank you for your reply.
1. I am just using Elementor. There is no gallery plugin.
I want it to use the caption. How to achieve this?

2. If I do this, I will always get the text RTL. My website is bilingual, Hebrew-English. It SHOULD detect language automatically, as other RTL-compatible plugins do. How to achieve that?

Thank you for your assistance,
Vera

1. Sorry, don't have enough experience with Elementor. You can contact Elementor support and ask how to configure their plugin to use caption.

2. Use the following CSS rule:

Code:

.rtl .fancybox-caption {direction: rtl}

I'm sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear.
I have before used other lightboxes and they have had no problem displaying the Caption and not Title. Thus, I would think the fix should be on your plugin:
For instance, by allowing a choice between Title and Caption in the Dashboard.

The plugin attaches the lightbox to existing images on a page and it uses title/alt attribute on images/link tags. They are generated by your gallery plugin (Elementor). If it adds caption then caption will be shown into the lightbox, if it adds title then title will be shown.
