To theoweert: we sent the answer to your mail, your INI file has an incorrect format. Each section and item (definition for each image) should be placed on separate line in INI file.

Oh, I did not understand that the name had to remain ariimagesslider.ini. Makes sense, just did not occur to me because the file was referred to as an example. So I have renamed the file and it is in images/slider. See attached screen shot of directory lising. I also added descriptions because I thought those were optional. However, the slider images do not appear to be linked to the pages at http://catamaranguru.com/lifestyle.html.

Your file has an incorrect format. It seems you copied it from site of theoweert. You can find the link to the sample INI file in "Description" section on module settings page.

This is what I did to create the ini file. I went to the module, clicked on "here" and it took me to catamaranguru.com/modules/mod_ariimageslider/ariimageslider.ini. I copied that file, opened it with notepad++ and typed in the file names, descriptions, links, and alt text. Then I saved it and ftp'd it to the same folder as the images. I have just now repeated that process and it still does not work. What do you mean "incorrect format"? The code, the UTF-8 setting? I saw the theoweert earlier, when you sent it, but I did not use that file.

You use very old version of the extension (1.6.4), but the latest version is 2.1.8. Download and upgrade the module, it should help.
