Thank you so much for that..... I was using the JCE editor, which I thought was the best.... maybe I need to go back to Tiny MCE again!

ohhhhhh.... you are going to hate me for this, and I apologise for being such a pain... but it didnt work....

It sort of did... I got much further than before, at least now I am seeing the images, but now the magnifier is not actually magnifying.

The image with the yellow background is actually the larger image (com-large.jpg), and its dimensions are 802 x 576.
The balck & white image (com-small.jpg) has dimensions of 250 X 180.

As you can see, the larger image is showing up actually smaller than the small image.....

I really am sorry for all these messages, but I cant get it working at all.

This conflict with site template styles. Add the following CSS rule to a site template CSS file or create a CSS template in "CSS Templates" section on component backend:

IMG.mojomagnify_img
{
max-width: none;
}
