Can you detail the correct procedure for uninstalling the component?

The reason I'm having to do this is that i don't think I installed it correctly in the first place, so some clear step-by-step instructions on how to install would be useful too.

For example, the readme.txt says

" How to install ARI Quiz:
1. Unzip com_ariquiz.zip.
2. Uninstall ARI Quiz component of previous version if it is installed.
3. Install com_ariquiz.1.0.zip if you are running Joomla 1.0.x or Mambo.
4. Install com_ariquiz.1.5.zip if you are running Joomla 1.5."

Which doesn't explain how to install at all!


So, now I'm trying to reinstall, and get the message:
Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "/home/fhlinux145/p/pimax.co.uk/user/htdocs/administrator/components/com_ariquiz"

Hello,

Every our component is installed using standard Joomla! installation procedure. You can read the description here.

If you get "Component Install: Another Component is already using directory" error this means that probably you have not uninstalled the component correctly. This is normal behavior to uninstall the component before reinstalling it. Please make sure you have uninstalled the component before install.

Uninstalling ARI Quiz component will not touch your database data.

If after uninstalling the component you receive the same error message this means that Joomla! did not uninstall the component correctly for some reason. In this case you will need to manually remove the following folders:

components/com_ariquiz
administrator/components/com_ariquiz

I'm managed it now thanks.

I'm relatively new to Joomla, and in particular installing of Components.

If you're going to go to the trouble of including a 'Readme.txt" file, I don't think you should necessarily assume that all users are experts!
