HotSpot not working at all 15 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
I have attempted to create a hotspot question for the last hour and a half, using Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera, all with the same results. The file never loads to display the "blue ring" around it.

I've tried large images, (60k), and small thumbnail images, (20k). I've even asked it to point to an image already on the server, all with the same results. When clicking "Choose Image", I am able to select the image for upload, but when I click "Add Image", the page refreshes twice, and the image is NOT displayed at the bottom for me to change the "blue box".

Please advise, as this is one of THE KEY features I was looking for when purchasing Ari-Quiz, (I bought it a week ago?).

EDIT: I tried to upload a .jpg file, and a .gif file. I have also added a "Question Category" as this is the ONLY thing that I can see that was different between your demo (in the backend), and what I have, regarding a "HotSpot" question. Please advise ASAP. Thank you!

Hello,

Can you reproduce the issue on our demo?

The steps to upload and use image in hotspot question:
1. Click "Browse..." and select image.
2. Click "Add Image".
3. Page is refreshed. Select an image in "Image:" drop-down (at left from "Browse..."). Image will be loaded and displayed among with blue selector.

If you are still unable to use this feature please provide us with access to your Joomla! backend so we could login and investigate. Please send us credentials by email.

Regards,
ARI Soft

Thank you for your response with instructions, however, this is a company production website, and as such, we can't open the back-end of our site to you, unless there was a way to grant you access ONLY to the Ari-Quiz component. Is there a way to do that? Surely you can understand for security reasons that we can't grant this request. Please advise.

We have followed your instructions step by step, but to no avail. When we lick "Add Image", it refreshes twice and does NOT appear in the dropdown menu to the left. Are we dealing with a permissions issue?

As far as we know the components that allow to restrict access to only component and non-free. Our questions:

1. Which browser do you use?
2. Which Joomla! version?
3. Are there any errors in error log?
4. Image of what extension do you try to upload?

ARI Soft

I have tried doing this on the following browsers:

1) Minefield (the beta version of Firefox)
2) Opera 9.63 (the stable release)
3) Internet Explorer 7 (from a different machine alltogether)

I have Joomla 1.5.8 installed

I do not know how to tell you if there are any errors in my error log.

I have tried uploading .gif files and .jpg files.

Could you please ask your administrator to send Apache error log?
Probably the problem is related to folder access rights. Could you please look into folder <joomla_dir>/administrator/components/com_ariquiz/cache/files/hotspot/ - does it contain any files? Which access rights does this folder have?

If it is possible please send us #__ariquizfile table dump by email - this will help in investigation (#_ is your Joomla! database prefix).

ARI Soft
