I would like to have an easy way to group images together on a webpage into a slideshow.
A very easy way would be an extra "group" parameter on a fancybox image call, eg:

{fancybox url="images/myimage1.jpg" group="Mygroup1"}<img src="images/myimage1.jpg" />{/fancybox}
{fancybox url="images/myimage2.jpg" group="Mygroup1"}<img src="images/myimage2.jpg" />{/fancybox}
{fancybox url="images/myimage3.jpg" group="Mygroup1"}<img src="images/myimage3.jpg" />{/fancybox}

{fancybox url="images/myimage4.jpg" group="Mygroup2"}<img src="images/myimage4.jpg" />{/fancybox}
{fancybox url="images/myimage5.jpg" group="Mygroup2"}<img src="images/myimage5.jpg" />{/fancybox}
{fancybox url="images/myimage6.jpg" group="Mygroup2"}<img src="images/myimage6.jpg" />{/fancybox}

In this way I could show several indivual images on a page. When the user e.g. opens image myimage5.jpg the display he can also slide to images 4 and 6 in group Mygroup2.

This is not covered in the documentation, so the question is: how?

Your code with "group" parameter should work. Just check that the latest version of the extension is installed on your site.

I think it is not implemented in the Fancybox plugin that is part of Ari Smart Content. If so, I would like to repeat the feature request.

The extension supports this feature. Check that you use the latest version.
