System meets all requirements.
Downloaded "com_arismartcontent.zip"
Accssed Jomla 1.5 admin cpanel.
Used Install
Browsed to location on my comp.
Used the upload/install.
After about 45 seconds, the dreaded error 500.

Tried again, and got the error that "another Component" with that path and name "is already in use".

Looked for it in every menu, not there. Re-loaded a clean browser, and WSF-TP'ed to site and under 'components/' removed the folder com_arismartcontent whose permission I note are "drwxr-xr-x" and contents.
Went to admin cpanel and reloaded.
Re-tried to re-install com_arismartcontent.zip, same error - 500.
Error log records errors, but that one isn't showing up.

Why? Tips, ideas, anything?

500 HTTP error can occur if "memory_limit" or "max_execution_time" PHP parameters have small value. Install and enable PHP Settings plugin (it provides ability to override some PHP options), download "ARI Smart Content" from "Member Area" again and re-install it. If it doesn't help, could you provide temporary access to your Joomla! backend by email that we can investigate this issue?

Thanks. I went back to the server this morning, and it showed up - I think, due to other oddities, the server was haveing a bad circuit day. It's installed - thanks a bunch.
