I am trying to update to the latest version of Smart content 1.7.4 on my joomla 1.0.15 install and am having issues.

I uninstall the old version then try to install the new version but after a few sec I get a black page and the component is not installed.

All the files appear to be extracted to the correct place but it does not show up in the installed components list.

Check error log of your web server for indicate errors. Usually it can happen if small time limit or memory limit were set in PHP settings. You can try the following solution:

1. Upload component to your server by FTP and unzip. Usually hosting panels like cPanel provide this possibility.

2. Install PHP Settings plugin and enable it. It increases time limit and memory limit by default.

3. Open Joomla! installation page on the component backend and choose 'Install from directory' section for installation.
