I am trying to set up a new data table for managing and displaying a certain data set.

The existing tutorials give excellent advice on how to present existing data, but I cannot find a clear instructions on how to create a new table in the database. Further there does not seem to exist any interface for inputting or editing the content of the database table.

I can of course use phpMyadmin to do it but just thought if there would be a more straightforward way for doing it.

Hello,

The extension is used to show data from different sources. It doesn't provide ability to add, delete or edit data.

If you want to use a Joomla! extension to manage Joomla! database, it is possible to use AceSQL or other similar extension for this purpose.

Thanks for reply. That is what I 'almost' expected.
Incidentally, what would happen if one tries to use the INSERT or REPLACE command in the SQL query of Data Table extension?

It is possible to execute INSERT query, but queries can be defined only by administrators.
