TOPIC: Styling sub menu items

Styling sub menu items 12 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

I can't seem to get the styling right for one particular dropdown. The menu is here. I changed the styling for the main menu item "Shop" (added a background colour and changed the link colours ) but this has changed the link colours on the dropdown items also, which I don't want.

I'd like the link colours on submenu items to be the same as the other dropdowns. I can't seem to target them correctly. Can you please advise ?

Many thanks

Hello,

We can recommend to upgrade the module to the latest version (very old version is used on your site) and use CSS selectors based on menu item id instead of "yui-gen" ID (this is a system auto-generated ID and can be changed in any moment).

Hi - what is the suggested upgrade method ? Do I need to uninstall first or can I install new version over the top ? Also, I'm guessing I need to backup the CSS which is saved in the existing module, correct ?

Install new version of the module over installed one. If you change core module CSS file(s), all changes will be lost.

"If you change core module CSS file(s), all changes will be lost." - sorry this is vague. If I install over the top will this core css file be overwritten automatically ?

I installed over the top and the CSS was preserved.

I've amended the CSS accordingly to get the orange background colour on the correct menu link - how do I change the link colours on that parent item without affecting the submenu items ? I've tried and I can't get it working correctly.

ALSO - I'd like to "text-align:center" the parent items but also can't get it to work.
