Upgrading Protostar menus 10 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
First, our "go live" is just a few days away so timing is critical on this!

I'm using the protostar template and have the menus set to horizontal pill style and I need to add some drop down menu items (which for some reason is nearly impossible with the protostar template).

Someone suggested your menus and I've been burned (badly) by free joomla plugins before so before I get started I wanted to ask some questions:

What do I have to do to transfer all the EXISTING menu assignments from the protostar mainmenu to your main menu?

What about the existing styling? Will it use that by default or am I gonna have to restyle the whole menu system?

If the whole thing (your system) bombs, how hard will it be to revert back to the protostar mainmenu?

Thanks!

Hello,

The module works with menu which are creating in Joomla! menu manager and modules and other elements are working with this menu. Protostar menu module also uses menus from Joomla! menu manager.

"ARI YUI Menu" uses own styles.

OK, that made no sense to me. I understand that english isn't your first language and I'm OK with trying to struggle through.

Lets start with this:

    1) Do I need the ARI YUI menu or ARI EXT menu? I installed the ARI EXT already but see that you have the YUI and now I'm confused.

    2) Once I select a position (protostar nav pos 1) and publish it, what else do I have to do?

Answer #1 - ARI Ext is the correct download for the default Protostar template.

Answer #2 - Turn off mainmenu module; set ordering on breadcrumbs to follow ari ext menu; enable ari menu.

Question #3: How do you style the ARI ext menus like the prototype menus and/or where do you have default styles documented?

Thanks

Some style parameters like background color, text color and etc. can be changed in module settings. If you want to apply custom CSS rules for the module, this post will be useful. It contains description of menu HTML layout.
